Destination Wedding Photography Costs: What’s Included?

In a destination wedding, place setting with name card ‘Teri’, elegant table styling with plate, cutlery, and napkin

If you’re dreaming of a destination wedding — perhaps in a Tuscan villa, a historic French château, or on a sun-drenched beach in Croatia — it’s important to understand the destination wedding photography costs involved. By having clarity from the beginning, you can plan with confidence, make informed decisions at every stage, and ensure your vision comes to life just as you imagine. By thinking about this early on, you can plan with greater clarity and confidence, making it easier to set realistic expectations and avoid surprises along the way.

As a luxury wedding photographer who has captured celebrations throughout Europe and internationally I’ll guide you through each step – from outlining what a typical package includes to highlighting optional extras and sharing practical tips. This way, you can make the most of your investment and focus entirely on enjoying your celebration, knowing every meaningful moment will be beautifully captured.

Whats included in my Destination Wedding Photography Packages?

Your wedding is one of a kind, so I customise your photography package to suit your plans, location, and timeline. For many destination weddings, coverage extends across three days, allowing me to capture your celebration in its entirety.

Typically, my packages include:

  • Full-day wedding coverage, from morning preparations through to the evening’s dancing.
  • Pre-wedding consultation—usually via Zoom—to plan your timeline together and ensure everything runs seamlessly.
  • Professionally edited, high-resolution images.
  • Highlight selection before I leave.
  • A private online gallery for viewing, sharing, and downloading.
  • Travel and accommodation for your photographer, either included in your package or billed separately.

For multi-day events, I always arrive the day before your wedding. This means I’m ready to document every moment, starting with your welcome dinner or cocktail party, and continuing through to a beautiful couples session. If you’re planning a post-wedding brunch or lunch, I can also be there to capture those final, heartfelt goodbyes—ensuring your entire story is preserved.

Optional Extras and Tailored Coverage

  • A second photographer for additional coverage
  • Cinematic wedding videography
  • Luxury printed wedding and parent albums
  • Polaroid and film stories
  • Drone usage
  • Coverage for pre- or post-wedding events, such as welcome dinners, pool parties, or next-day brunches

You can tailor your photography experience to reflect your celebration, ensuring I capture every part of your wedding story beautifully.

How much does Destination Wedding Photography Cost?

When researching destination wedding photography costs, you’ll notice they vary depending on your location, length of coverage, and your photographer’s experience.

As a general guide:

  • Luxury UK & Europe-based destination wedding photographers: £2,500 – £7,000+
  • My packages range from around £3,000 to £5,500
  • Depending on your package, travel and accommodation may be included or billed separately—covering flights, accommodation, and transfers as required.
  • Its normal practice to include your photographer at meal times (and greatly appreciated too), although I’ll normally sort myself out at breakfast especially if I’m not staying on site.
  • Additional wedding events: Coverage for welcome dinners, pool parties, or next-day brunches is often available as an add-on. I normally include these as standard as I’ll be there anyway.

Do We Need to Pay for Our Photographer’s Travel?

Some photographers include travel and accommodation in their packages, while others invoice these separately. It’s quite common for couples to cover their photographer’s travel expenses, especially when selecting a more affordable package.

Personally, I take a flexible approach—sometimes including travel, other times invoicing it separately—and I always enjoy working with couples to create a collection that suits their specific needs and budget.

What Influences Destination Wedding Photography Costs?

Several factors influence destination wedding photography costs, including:

  • Location: Remote destinations may come with higher travel and logistical costs.
  • Coverage: Multi-day celebrations, additional events, or a second photographer will increase your investment.
  • Experience: Highly experienced destination wedding photographers – like me – may charge more, but you gain reassurance, expert planning, and consistently stunning results that make your investment worthwhile. Most importantly, you enjoy complete peace of mind, knowing you’re in the very best hands.

Are Destination Wedding Photography Costs Worth it?

If you value natural, story-driven photography and want someone you can truly trust to capture your celebration, then investing in an experienced destination wedding photographer is absolutely worth it. After all, while the day itself soon becomes a memory, your photographs—capturing the atmosphere, light, and emotion—are what you’ll cherish for years to come.

By choosing a skilled destination photographer, you’ll feel confident, supported, and free to be fully present, knowing that every meaningful moment is being beautifully preserved.

Final Tips for Planning Your Destination Wedding Photography

  • Book early: Popular European destinations are in high demand, especially for summer weddings, so secure your photographer as soon as you can.
  • Ask for a detailed quote: Make sure you know exactly what’s included in your destination wedding photography package.
  • Choose a photographer whose style feels like you: Your wedding photography should reflect your story, your day, and your personality.
  • Prioritise experience over price: Investing in a seasoned destination photographer ensures your day is captured beautifully, with confidence and calm.
