A BEAUTIFUL AUSTRALIAN LOVE STORY IN THE HEART OF RURAL FRANCE

February 2, 2024

A majestic fairytale French chateau wedding is a treat for anyone – imagine how even more special the occasion when you’ve flown half way around the world to get here. The guests were treated to an elegant 3 day event beginning with a glamorous evening cocktail party where everyone was encouraged to wear white. We all looked incredible against the rich evening sunsetting skies in the heart of the green Perigord region.

BTW… Chateau de la Valouze has the most incredible history, boasting a story that it used to be owned by the family of the man who discovered and ‘invented’ IMPRESSIONISM.

The event started off with the arrival of the guests from all over the globe, mainly Australia, myself and Pamela from PLH Weddings and Events and Marry Me in France – and her team of incredible suppliers.

Once everyone was allocated their rooms, suites or bungalows on site the welcome party began. Everyone was to wear white (including me which was a first)! The evening took on a cocktail party theme with incredible creations from the bar of South Mixology Events. The bride and groom to be then greeted their guests with a short speech and a wealth of delicious canapés from the main wedding caterers Novelle Traituer.

We finished the night off with an evening couples session before everyone got some beauty sleep ahead of the MAIN event the following day…

The Wedding Day

Things started early in Chateau De La Valouze with suppliers everywhere making deliveries, moving furniture and generally getting busy under the instruction of wedding planner extraordinaire Pamela Harmey. The chairs for the ceremony were set in a unique diamond formation on the lawns outside the very front of the Chateau. This meant everyone had the most perfect view.

I began the photography in the bridal suite and the whole day went perfectly from there. Finishing off LATE into the night with dancing & drinking underneath the Chateau in its very own JAZZ BAR. Entertainment by such a fab band ‘Notorious Live Band’... You have to scroll to the end of this post to see just how much FUN this party was.

The final day was spent by the pool, playing lawn games, drinking and eating. Guests were treated to a delicious BBQ too. Everyone was pretty OK actually considering the late night and we finished off the day with a few fun photo sessions. It was just all so perfect with everything and everyone exactly where they should be. Lets all go do it again x
